Spain could return to confinement if new infections spread

COVID-19 pandemic

USPA NEWS - The Spanish Government warned on Tuesday that it could decree a new period in a state of alarm in all or part of the territory, if the outbreaks of Coronavirus that are being detected since normality recovered after a three-month confinement on Sunday, increased and spread throughout Spain. Since zero hours on Sunday, June 21 and up to the time of writing this article, 36 outbreaks have been detected in various parts of the country, of which 12 are still active.
The Spanish Ministry of Health is concerned about the outbreaks of Coronavirus, although it admits that, even in the best scenario, there will continue to be cases until a vaccine is available. Above all, there is concern about an outbreak in the Aragonese province of Huesca (northern Spain, on the border with France), where three zones have regressed to phase 2 of the de-escalation due to the number of new infections. A factory spokesperson said Tuesday that the company had recently hired 250 new workers, hinting that this was the route of entry for COVID-19 at its facilities. In the same region, a zone in the province of Zaragoza also fell back to phase 2 on Tuesday. The Coronavirus has passed to Catalonia, where an elderly people's home in the province of Lleida (on the border with Huesca) has registered an outbreak that keeps it isolated 12 elders and five workers.
Outbreaks have also been recorded in the Basque Country, Navarra, Murcia, Castilla y León, and Madrid. This Tuesday, in an interview with the private television channel Antena 3, the first vice president of the Spanish Government, Carmen Calvo, admitted that outbreaks will continue to occur as long as a vaccine is not available, although she considered that, for the moment, those who have registered in Spain are controllable. However, she warned that if the new infections increase and become widespread in Spain, the Government will again decree the state of alarm.
In the last hours, the Government only reported one deceased by Coronavirus and almost 200 new infections. Health authorities stress that many of these new infections are people participating in an early detection program for the virus. Meanwhile, the health authorities are striving to remind the Spaniards that, although the state of alarm has ended, the virus is still present in Spain, so it is important to maintain the recommended self-protection measures: use of the mask, interpersonal distance of security from 1.5 meter and frequent hand washing.
